Why Talk About RACE by Donna Odom

For what I hope is most of us, the coming of the RACE Exhibit is an exciting event, and we look forward to using it as a catalyst for frank dialogue and community action.  Still, there are others who ask why?  Why do we need to talk about race?  It makes people uncomfortable.  Do we really have to open that Pandora’s Box of pain, resentment, and, yes, guilt?  Here’s my response to that - what will it mean not to?  How can we ever get past that pain, resentment, and guilt if we don’t first acknowledge it and then begin to make steps toward healing?

South Africa White Supremacist's Killing A 'Declaration Of War'

A top member of a South African white supremacist group said Sunday that the slaying of their leader was “a declaration of war” by blacks against whites, as the president appealed for calm amid growing racial tensions in the once white-led country.
